Cinema at the State Presents

The Constituent

Including Q&A with Oscar-Winning Author Ernest Thompson & Book Signing Event

The film follows Chas Potter, a tough-minded, "grizzled" New Hampshire woodsman who writes hundreds of scathing, profane, and strongly worded letters to his senator in Washington, D.C. The senator eventually has enough and pays a surprise visit to the constituent, leading to a "reckoning" and a "confrontation" where the two men, despite their intense political differences, find common ground.

Ernest Thompson’s work has won multiple awards, including an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay, Golden Globes for Best Screenplay and Best Motion Picture, Drama, and a Writers Guild Award for “On Golden Pond.” Q&A following the film will include a conversation about The Constituent and his new literary thriller, Out Clause. You can even get a photo with “Oscar”, who will be attending with Ernest. See TheConstituentFilm.com for more film info and ErnestThompson.us for book details.

Running time: 37m (film only). Q&A and book signing after.
