Auburn State Theatre Moves to Next Stage of Restoration

To our Wonderful Community,

We find ourselves a year out from April 18, 2023, and the catastrophic collapse of the ceiling in our beloved Theatre. It seems like yesterday and an eternity all at once.

We extend our most heartfelt appreciation to the greater Auburn community, the City of Auburn, our patrons, volunteers, board members, staff, community advisors and partners for supporting Auburn State Theatre as we work toward reopening this treasured community jewel. Your words of encouragement and financial support mean the world to us and strengthen our resolve to see this Theatre reopen and welcome you back!

We are busy with numerous aspects of the Theatre Restoration Project, making steady progress in all areas. We eagerly anticipate sharing more information with you as we move forward.

Auburn State Theatre’s mission of enhancing our community through entertainment carries on as we continue to present films at Odd Fellows Lodge and other venues. Our talented all-volunteer State Theatre Acting Company (STAC) continues to present “Golden Age Radio” and other shows – be sure to catch STAC’s full-length comedy “My Man Godfrey” on April 26 & 27— at First Congregational Church of Auburn. Community partnerships are vital to all of us in Auburn and we are fortunate to have some of the best!

Please “Save the Date” for our annual Cocktails & Cinema fundraiser on Saturday, June 8, 2024. We will once again throw a celebratory street party in front of the Theatre and enjoy great food, drink, music, entertainment and friends.

Thank you again to all who continue your support during this project. We truly appreciate each and every one of you and look forward to seeing you here again!,

Colleen M. Carberry Sands
Executive Director
Auburn State Theatre

Muscle Shoals

Sponsored by Placer Independent Resource Services

In a tiny Alabama town with the curious name of Muscle Shoals, something miraculous sprang from the mud of the Tennessee River. A group of unassuming, yet incredibly talented locals came together and spawned some of the greatest music of all time. During the most incendiary periods of racial hostility, white folks and black folks came together to create music that would last for generations and gave birth to the incomparable “Muscle Shoals sound.”

"…the documentary’s real highlights are the musings of the musicians who recorded there. Performers including Bono, Aretha Franklin, Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, Jimmy Cliff and Steve Winwood reflect on what made the town "magic," as Bono puts it.” - Rolling Stone, Katie Van Syckle.
